5566 to reunite at the Golden Bell Awards

5566 will reunite at the Golden Bell Awards. The group debuted in 2002 and shot to fame after being in idol dramas, including My MVP Valentine. The quartet is comprised of members Tony Sun, Zax Wang, Jason Hsu and Sam Wang. Their former member Rio Peng left the group in 2003 after suffering a serious injury.

The group have been inactive after the members became busier: Jason enlisted in the army and his contract expired; Zax got married and has started a family; and Tony also got married to actress Angel Han, but went through a divorce last year.

There were rumours of a reunion concert last year but plans eventually fell through. This time, news that 5566 will reunite at the Golden Bell Awards was confirmed both by the organisers and Zax and Jason’s managers, which has led to much excitement from their fans.

Zax’s manager went on to share that he is in the midst of losing 10 kilograms in order to look good on-stage with the members and is running 10km and swimming 2km a day, along with staying away from carbohydrates and fried food to achieve his aim. He has lost 6kg in a month through his strict regime.

The Golden Bell Awards is slated to take place on October 8.
