Andy Lau announces upcoming concert plans

Hong Kong actor-singer Andy Lau made an appearance two days ago at Tsim Sha Tsui for a ceremony of lighting the Christmas ornaments, making it his fourth time being the special guest for this event.

As he descended a long flight of stairs on a red carpet to make his entrance, many were quick to note that it was the same place where he had ridden in on a horse for a previous event.

The actor said that the organisers had initially wanted him to enter on a horse as well but he shot the idea down immediately, saying that “If I have to ride a horse, I won’t be coming”.

Andy’s refusal stemmed from him falling off a horse while filming a commercial in Thailand early this year, which left him with an injured spine as well as a fracture at his pelvic bone.

He spent almost eight months making a full recovery but had to forgo certain events in the process, such as being unable to hold his annual Christmas concert this year. He said that he intended to make it up to his fans and planned to organise more public events to allow more interactions with them.

The 55-year-old actor then delighted the crowd by announcing that he had already had plans with the Hong Kong Coliseum at the end of the month to arrange a concert during Christmas next year. He added that while he had yet to discuss with other locations in China, he would “perform to the best of my ability” for every concert.
