Angela Chang: My conscience is clear

In the latest development in the longstanding feud between Taiwanese singer Angela Chang and her parents and uncle, the singer has stepped out once again to clear the air.

The 36-year-old’s uncle had stirred the pot in May by alleging once again that Angela was an unfilial daughter, who did not fulfil her contractual obligation to buy her parents a house each, as well as provide them with NT$60,000 (approximately S$2,700) of monthly living expenses.

At a press conference for her concert in Shanghai, China on Monday (June 11), Angela spoke briefly about the new allegations.

“Actually, I’ve been silent for a long time [regarding this matter]. In the end, time gave me the best justification and healing. In life, you can’t expect everything to go the way you want it to. You’ll experience tribulation after tribulation. [But], as long as you overcome it, it’ll be fine,” she said.

Angela stressed that she has always had a clear conscience, thus, all the rumours and misunderstandings regarding the matter does not bother her. According to the singer, with time, the truth will reveal itself.

When the topic changed to her fans, who have always supported her through the years, Angela couldn’t hold back her emotions any more, and started tearing.

At the very end of the press conference, Angela addressed the allegations once again, saying, “I've been in the industry for so many years, and I’ve always strove to remain true to myself. I will make sure to look at [this matter] from the other party’s point of view. Interpersonal communication is very important.”
