Angela Chang slammed as ‘ungrateful’

Angela Chang has been slammed as ungrateful by the Sam Chen, CEO of Warner Music Greater China, while in the midst of promoting her new album, Head Over Heels.

She shot to fame after acting in drama At Dolphin Bay in 2003 but hogged headlines in 2009 for a wholly different reason. She had a public falling-out with her mother over financial matters and did not continue her contract with then-label Linfair Records. Angela returned to the music scene in 2011 with a new label, Wonderful Records, and has been promoting with them since.

During her recent concert held in the Taipei Arena, she performed numerous past songs, including those from when she was with her previous label. Sam Chen declared on his Facebook, that she was someone who is “ungrateful to your company, doesn’t know how to be thankful to your parents and an artiste who disappoints others”, adding that “she’s so unpopular now; artistes go on the decline when they’re ungrateful. She’ll never be able to go back to where she was before (and) her new album is terrible”.

Angela has yet to make an official response to his words, although she updated her Weibo with a short, “Thank you to everyone who has showed their concern! Thank you for the love you’ve given me! Love you all!”

Her good friend, Wu Tsing Fong of Sodagreen, stepped forward to support her. “Many people know the love that you have and what you’re worth. Those who don’t know anything try to throw rocks at you, but they’re nowhere near your level. Love you.”

Tsing Fong is also said to have made an appearance at Angela’s recent concert and performed a duet, ‘Blue Eyes’ with her despite not having rehearsed with her previously, further emphasising their strong friendship.
