The actress felt that it was best that they left such decisions to the head of the household

Anita Yuen reveals why her name was left out in Julian Cheung’s property purchase

Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen revealed the reason as to why her husband, fellow actor Julian Cheung excluded her name from the recent purchase of his property of a HK $91.8 million (approximately S$16 million) multi-storey mansion, citing that he was the “master of the house” in charge of such matters.

Anita addressed this issue on Saturday (Oct 23) when she appeared as the guest of honour at the Film and Television Event at the Hong Kong Baptist University. She clarified that the main reason for the exclusion was because the Hong Kong government only permitted one person’s name on the property deed for first-time buyers. Therefore after much consideration, the couple decided that Julian should be the owner.

“We did consider adding my name but decided to stick to tradition in the end, so we only put [my) husband’s name down,” Anita said.

The couple, who have always rented apartments, did not rule out the possibility of buying more houses in the future should they see any suitable ones. Anita even joked that “she would get Julian to buy it for her as a gift.”

The 46-year-old actress revealed that they only plan to move in after a few years but are going to put it up for rent for the time being as they have yet to decide how the house is going to be renovated. As this is their first ‘owned’ property, Anita feels that the house should “feel like home” and plans to decorate it to her style and liking, but at the same time it simple as they have a child.

Anita and Julian have been married for 16 years and have an 11-year-old son Morton. She disclosed that Morton would not get to choose his own room as she felt that he “should not cultivate the habit of being picky from a young age”, but instead, “be grateful and appreciative for what he has.”
