Barbie Hsu blasted online for “weight gain”
It was all camera angles and tricks, according to the actress-host
Taiwanese actress-host Barbie Hsu has been under fire from netizens recently, who took offense at the fact that the 40-year-old has yet to regain her pre-pregnancy body after giving birth to her second child, a boy, in May last year.
The actress-host recently guested on a variety show as a judge, only to get lambasted by netizens after the episode aired, with many commenting that Barbie’s face looked bloated. Some even went as far as to claim that the actress-host is “about to lose her jaw”.
After seeing the negative comments online, Barbie took to her Weibo to clear the air, uploading a bare-faced selfie.
“There are many reasons as to why someone might look bloated on television, I think it might be because I was a little bloated [that day], plus the fact that my microphone was attached to my jaw,” she wrote in her caption, explaining why she looked “fat” that day.
Taiwanese film producer Angie Chai has also defended Barbie, uploading an old picture of her together with Barbie and her younger sister, Taiwanese actress-host Dee Hsu.
“Oh my! The two leading ladies beside me are really pretty, my dear Barbie, you’ve not changed one bit,” Angie wrote, showing her support for Barbie.
In other unrelated news, Barbie’s husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei uploaded a picture of him cuddling up to the couple’s one-year-old son, Wang Xilin at the beach, earning the praises of netizens for the baby boy’s dashing good looks.
Barbie married her businessman beau Wang Xiaofei in 2011 after a whirlwind romance. The couple welcomed their first child, Wang Xiyue, three years after marriage.
