Barbie Hsu loses her temper at husband

Barbie Hsu’s antics on Chinese reality variety series Happiness Trio has been under scrutiny as of late, especially after viewers pointed fingers at her husband, Wang Xiaofei, for exhibiting “henpecked” behaviour towards her.

In the latest episode, Barbie was preparing a curry rice meal and was trying to fish for compliments from her husband. However, he wasn’t able to say anything to appease her and Dee Hsu, who was also in the house, came to his rescue by showering her older sister with compliments.

Following which, Chinese celebrity couple Chen Jianbin and Jiang Qinqin came to visit them, and all five of them had a meal together. During the meal Barbie lamented, “My husband gave me too little rice (because) he’s worried that I’ll get fat.”

To make matters worse, Xiaofei’s comment of, “Dear, won’t you get fat if you eat so much?” fanned the fire, which caused Barbie to lose her temper and throw her slipper at him. She said in retaliation, “I gave you the biggest bowl of rice, but you only gave me a few grains of it!”

Dee, who was watching the fight unfold, added, “You’re right, he really gave you too little rice”. With the sisters ganging up against him, Xiaofei could only take their nagging and said nothing in retaliation.

However, instead of being offended, viewers were tickled by the exchange, with some commenting that Xiaofei’s helplessness was a true reflection of what husbands do when their wives get upset, with others adding that he would have been scolded even if he had given her a huge serving of rice, as Barbie would nag about having to watch her weight.
