Blue Lan is besotted with his daughter
The actor can’t bear to think of his little one all grown up
At an event to promote Taiwanese actor Blue Lan’s new drama, The Ex-Man, all the 39-year-old could speak about was his firstborn, a 3-year-old girl nicknamed Little Basketball.
Blue’s co-star, Taiwanese singer-actress Rainie Yang, who chopped off her long locks for a bowl cut favoured by young high-schoolers, shared that her current hairstyle was very similar to that of Little Basketball. As a result, Blue unknowingly used ‘baby speak’ to speak to Rainie, only realising his mistake when Rainie replied with, “I'm not your daughter!”.
The actor also revealed that Little Basketball is full of charm, often asking Blue, “Where are you going, Daddy?”, whenever he leaves in the morning, and even sending him "cute" text messages with, “Daddy, have you ended work?” at night.
When Blue had to leave home for a five-day work trip recently, his daughter phoned him while he was in the middle of filming a scene where he had to be in the ocean for three hours. Despite his physical fatigue, the father-of-two shared that he felt very touched, even exclaiming, “It’s the right choice to have a daughter.”
He also added that even before Little Basketball was born, he had started imagining what would happen in the future when she grows up, gets a boyfriend and eventually ties the knot. He admitted that he could not even begin to imagine his daughter getting whisked away by another man, “I'm really scared that she’ll leave me while riding off in a noisy motorcycle.”
Blue and his wife, Taiwanese actress Jade Chou, registered their marriage in May 2014. They had their first child and threw a wedding banquet in 2015, and welcomed their second child last October.
