Taiwanese actress Cheryl Yang missed out on the Best Leading Actress award at the 51st Golden Bell Awards last weekend, losing by one vote to eventual winner, Alice Ko.

After the ceremony, the actress candidly revealed, “Of course I’m dissatisfied to have not won an award. As for the areas in which I feel dissatisfied, I’ll have to go home and have a think [about it] first.”

On Sunday, she took to her Facebook to elaborate on her statement, writing, “I’m very thankful to God for leaving me a tiny jewel whenever the nominees for awards are announced. I can almost piece together a jewelled necklace [from all these jewels] now,” before jokingly adding, “I’m beginning to dislike jewel necklaces now.”

Idol boyband 5566, also reunited for a special performance at the awards ceremony, only to be criticised by the public for going off-key. A couple of media outlets also named Jason Hsu as the member who was most noticeably off-key, with the 31-year-old addressing the reports on his Facebook.

Jason acknowledged that he had received a huge amount of feedback after the performance, from praise to criticism. He also shared that he will take the public’s feedback into account, and continue to work hard together with his bandmates to bring joy to everyone.

Regarding their off-key performance, he wrote, “I’m very upset as well… because, I did not give an off-key performance. Instead, it was an R&B performance,” jokingly acknowledging the mistake.

Fans of the veteran boyband also rallied behind the group to show their support, and clamoured for a reunion concert tour.

Leader Tony Sun only had praises to sing of their performance, saying, “I felt that it was not bad. All humans will go off-key [once in a while].” Member Zax Wang also brushed off speculations that the members had teared on stage, with, “Our eyes were probably a little sore. We didn’t cry, though we were really touched [at the moment].”
