Chris Wang underwent a vasectomy

Taiwanese actor Chris Wang made a surprise announcement on Facebook yesterday that he had undergone a vasectomy, so that his wife, Lin Yi Xian, would not have to go through the “pain or surgeries of child birth anymore.”

Chris revealed that Yi Xian became more worried and hesitant rather than happy when she thought she was pregnant with their third child. This was when he decided to alleviate her worries and undergo this procedure. He felt that it was the “least he could do” as she had already given birth to their two children.

The 35-year-old actor said that despite being discouraged by the nurses from following through with the surgery due to his considerably young age, he loved his wife too much to see her suffer again.

“From a young and bright girl, I watched her become someone who stares silently into the mirror, and someone who would pull her stomach fat and smile helplessly,” Chris said.

Despite being skeptical about the surgery at first as she deemed it “unusual for a man”, Yi Xian was ultimately happy with the outcome and even saw Chris as a “local hero or a god”.

Chris’s manager said the actor is currently recovering well and emphasised that it was the couple’s personal choice for not having more children. He also mentioned that the procedure was not scary.

The actor registered his marriage to Yi Xian in April 2015, two weeks after welcoming their first child, daughter Lei Lei, together. The couple then announced this March that they were expecting their second child, and welcomed a boy, nicknamed YOLO, this June.
