Eddie Peng refutes gay rumors

Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng has refuted claims about him being in a gay relationship with a businessman, Zhang Lei.

These rumours became a hot topic a few days ago after a Weibo user posted screenshots of a conversation with inside sources discussing that Eddie, despite being a straight male, had begun a relationship with Zhang Lei in order to climb up the entertainment industry ladder.

Another vague post (that has since been deleted) also hinted at Eddie and Zhang Lei’s relationship. This caught netizens’ eye as it was retweeted by the CEO of Zhongnan Film, Liu Chun.

However, less than an hour after these claims were spread, the 35-year-old actor’s work studio stepped out to clarify these statements.

“These statements are purely fabricated and have no value to them. We have already handed this case over to the lawyers,” wrote his company.

Zhang Lei is the CEO of Hillhouse Capital Group and is one of China’s richest investors. He is also on the Board of Directors for Yale University in America and is the vice chairman of the committee in the People’s university of China. He is also reported to have a NT $78 billion (approximately S$3.7 billion) net worth.
