Elaine Ng, Etta Ng make amends

Former Hong Kong actress Elaine Ng seemed to have made peace with her daughter, Etta Ng, and left all their issues in the past as she recently celebrated Etta’s 18th birthday on Sunday (Nov 19).

Elaine posted a photo on Facebook of two people posing with a cake that read “happy 18th birthday.” Although she used a heart and a moon emoji to cover their faces, many quickly pointed out that it was Elaine and Etta.

Etta appeared to be smiling, prompting many to deduce that the feud between the two was over as they looked very close now.

The 45-year-old actress also captioned the photo, “You need to constantly improve, work hard, be grateful and show appreciation for every day,” seeming very happy that she was spending time with her daughter on her special day.

Mother and daughter have been making headlines for negative reasons since 2015, after Etta reported Elaine to the police for child abuse. The 18-year-old teenager later confessed that she had wanted to seek help for her mother, who was a compulsive drinker and smoker.

The trouble continued after two years, where Etta lodged a police complaint that her mother had verbally intimidated her in March and was later rumoured to have attempted suicide after being sent to the hospital one month later.

The latest news in the mother-daughter saga comes from Etta being accused of breaking into Elaine’s house, stealing items worth S$29,600 while she was living with her girlfriend, 30-year-old Canadian social media influencer, Andi Autumn. However, Etta later refuted that she had already informed her mother of her intentions to come home.

Etta is also the estranged daughter of veteran actor Jackie Chan, who had an affair with Elaine in 1999, but he had previously made it clear that he would not be involved in her life.
