Elaine Ng is okay with daughter’s sexuality

Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan’s daughter, Etta Ng, recently came out as gay in an Instagram post on Thursday (Oct 5). Her mother, former Hong Kong beauty queen, Elaine Ng said in an interview that she respected her daughter’s choice and also revealed that Etta had previous boyfriends in the past.

Etta initially posted a picture of herself with a rainbow background captioned with several hashtags - #lgbt (which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual), #lesbian. She later went on to introduce her girlfriend, Canadian social media influencer Andi Autumn, in her latest post and said that she was “speechless at how followers went to both her and Andi’s account to show so much positivity.”

Elaine has responded that she did have her suspicions after noticing how close Etta and Andi had become in recent days but was just glad that her daughter had finally found happiness.

Etta has been singlehandedly raised by Elaine, ever since Jackie refused to acknowledge her, and was forced to be independent and grow up fast from young. She was left alone very often as Elaine was always out busy filming.

However, Elaine felt that growing up in a single-parent family was not what caused her to ‘deviate’ but rather, it was the loneliness and need for extra love that was missing from her life. Etta had also mentioned that she was left “in awe at the love and support” she received after coming out.

The 17-year-old is reportedly living with Andi and receives NT$3,500 (approximately S$157) weekly from Elaine for her expenses. She is currently supporting herself by working in an office while juggling school work to make extra money.

Etta is Elaine and Jackie’s love child from an affair back in 1999. The veteran actor had previously been blackmailed for having never paid child support nor giving a single cent to both mother and daughter. Etta is also said to be distanced from Elaine after reporting her to the police for child abuse.
