Fans misunderstand Kenji Wu’s Facebook post

Taiwanese singer Kenji Wu went through a rough patch recently after he was diagnosed with sudden deafness due to stress and overworking, causing him to lose almost half of his hearing ability in his left ear. Other than his poor physical health condition, fans are worried about the singer’s emotional wellbeing as well, especially after he teared at a press conference recently and left abruptly.

To add fuel to the fire, Kenji posted a message on his Facebook on Monday (Feb 6), which led fans to think that the 37 year-old singer might be leaving showbiz soon. “Leaving my comfort zone to embark on an unknown journey for three months,” he wrote.

Disappointed with Kenji’s possible departure from the limelight, fans flurried to persuade the singer to press on and not to quit singing. But the misunderstanding was swiftly cleared when his music label, Warner Music Group, clarified that the singer was referring to his upcoming trip to Hengdian World Studios in China for three months as he had scored a role in the movie, The Legends of Monkey King.

It was also said that the singer will be playing Pigsy in the movie and accepted the challenge because of the loyal character and well-written script. Kenji will be starring alongside international stars Raymond Lam, Jiang Mengjie, Eva Cheng and Jin Akanishi in this movie.
