Gao Yuanyuan denies pregnancy rumours
“Perhaps I’ve put on some weight,” actress says
Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan has clarified that she is not yet pregnant while attending a fashion event yesterday in Hong Kong. “You’re mistaken,” she said. “Perhaps I’ve put on some weight.”
Since Yuanyuan married Taiwanese actor–singer Mark Chao in 2014, there has been intense interest in whether she’s expecting. Her appearance at yesterday’s event lasted barely three minutes before she scooted away, leading to suspicions that she was afraid of being asked whether she was pregnant. She had opened the floor to just three questions from the media, but couldn’t avoid fielding one on her and Mark’s plans for children.
Yuanyuan recently paid a visit to Taiwanese actress Alyssa Chia, who was pregnant with her second child at the time, and sharp netizens spotted a slight belly under Yuanyuan’s loose-fitting clothes, sparking the pregnancy rumours.
The actress says she’s taking it one step at a time. Regarding her work, she says she’s taking a break and reading scripts when she’s free, and that she’s hoping for the chance to do a musical.
