Gao Yunxiang may be cleared of sexual assault charges

According to reports from Taiwanese media, the tides may be turning in Chinese actor Gao Yunxiang’s (also known as Gavin Gao) favour in his alleged sexual assault case.

The married father-of-one was in Sydney filming a TV series called Love in Aranya when he and Chinese producer Wang Jing were accused of sexual assault against a female production crew member at the Shangri-La hotel after the wrap party.

After being initially detained and denied bail, the 35-year-old was released on bail late last month and is currently residing in Australia with his wife, Chinese actress Xuan Dong and their 2-year-old daughter.

According to information revealed in the latest reports, Yunxiang and the female defendant had engaged in consensual sex on a previous occasion. The evidence also stated that the duo had not used any protection.

It was also reported that the female defendant had fond feelings towards Yunxiang and that she had taken the initiative to approach him on the night of the alleged assault.

Additionally, Yunxiang, who had been drinking before the incident happened, allegedly went to Wang Jing’s hotel room because he was invited by the female defendant and Wang Jing.

Thus, it is reported that what happened between the actor and the female defendant does not constitute as sexual assault in the eyes of the law based on the current evidence that has been presented. As a result, the verdict will be given after careful consideration and investigation of the evidence gathered at the scene of the alleged crime.
