Hannah Quinlivan’s café is closing down

Fans of celebrity couple Hannah Quinlivan and Jay Chou will definitely be familiar with ‘Machi Doggie Fashion & Coffee’, a café opened by Hannah.

Named after the 25-year-old’s pet dog, Machi, the coffeeshop has been in operation for three years. Ever so often, Jay and his fellow celebrity friends would pop in for a quick bite in a show of support for Hannah’s business. While there, the multi-hyphenate often obliged to requests to snap a quick selfie with the café’s customers, which has made it a regular haunt for the singer's fans.

However, the café put up an announcement yesterday (March 5), sharing that this will be their last month of operation. “In the past three years, we’ve gone through many menu changes and organised countless events. We wonder how many good memories and laughter has this place seen. However, there's no such thing that a party that never ends, and as our lease is up, along with other operational matters, we have decided to cease operations after March 27, 2019. In the future, if there is an opportunity for us to start again, we will (be sure to) make an announcement,” the post read.

According to reports, the rent for the location is quite high, as it is located in Ximending, a popular tourist spot. In recent years, a number of global brands have set up shop in the area, which has further driven up the average rental in the area. As a result, many smaller shops have since shut down or relocated.
