Hawick Lau’s daughter favours daddy over mummy

“Xiao Nuo Mi” is said to be extra clingy to her dad

Hawick Lau’s father, veteran actor Danny Lau revealed at a promotional event for his upcoming drama, Lo and Behold, that his granddaughter,

nicknamed “Xiao Nuo Mi” (or Little Glutinous Rice), prefers her father to her mother, Yang Mi.

Danny shared that the family-of-three video calls each other every day, but Xiao Nuo Mi would always be extra excited to see her father. She is also clingier towards the actor when he is around, said Danny.

But the 74 year-old actor assured the media that Yang Mi is still close with her daughter as she flew back to Hong Kong last September just to accompany Xiao Nuo Mi for a pre-school enrolment interview. The actress also celebrated Chinese New Year with Hawick and Xiao Nuo Mi during her three-day break in January.

Danny sang praises of his granddaughter who, he thinks, has a knack for acting, like her parents. According to him, the young tot is able to express herself through various facial expressions. “If you tell her to look sad, she will act like she is sad,” he said.

Yang Mi and Hawick’s marriage was plagued by divorce rumours when the 42 year-old actor was reported to be cheating on his wife. The cheating scandal was later revealed to be a sham by paparazzi.
