Is Nicholas Tse the reason for Yang Mi and Hawick Lau’s divorce?

Former power couple Yang Mi and Hawick Lau’s divorce has seen a flurry of speculation about the details of their split, with both parties staying silent about the reason for their decision. The media has gone to the extent of asking Hawick’s father about the divorce, but have gotten little answers from the tight-lipped families.

This has led to even more intense rumours making the rounds online, one of which being that Hawick and Yang Mi had divorced as early as last year, but had kept the news a secret so that their respective careers would not be affected.

With their continued lack of comment, the theories have become increasing far-fetched, with one Chinese report claiming that Yang Mi had only spent 37 days with their daughter, nicknamed ‘Little Glutinous Rice’, over the past three years. They broke it down to her spending 23 days with her in 2016, followed by eight-and-a-half and five days in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

They claimed that due to her work commitments, she decided to leave her daughter in the care of her parents-in-law in Hong Kong, which caused the relationship between the former couple to sour over arguments about her not being able to spend more time with the family.

Another report claimed that Yang Mi and Hawick’s divorce is merely the start of an intricate plan, which will see Nicholas Tse publicly breaking up with Faye Wong in March 2019 and confirm a new project in which he will star opposite Yang Mi shortly after. They claimed that Yang Mi and Nicholas would then announce that they are dating in August, just before their movie hits the screens in order to drum up publicity for the film.
