Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan attended the funeral of his ex-manager, Malaysian-born film producer and talent manager, Willie Chan yesterday, at the Hong Kong Funeral Home.

Willie was very respected in the entertainment industry and was dubbed the “golden manager” as he had worked with some of the most well-known stars such as Jacky Cheung, Simon Yam and Carina Lau, to list a few.

According to Taiwanese media, he passed away in his sleep on Monday night.

Jackie, along with singer Jacky Cheung and actors Patrick Tse and Ti Lung also acted as the pallbearers, and carried Willie’s casket during the ceremony.

Many other notable faces also paid their respects, with actors Lee Byung Hun and Donnie Yen attending his funeral while singer Sammi Cheng sent wreathes.

Willie was said to have drafted a will prior to his death and had plans to leave one of his townhouses, worth HK$30 million (approximately S$5.17 million) to an aunt named Pat.

It was later rumoured that his godson, George Tsui, thought differently and had plans to sell the houses instead but he has since denied these claims. He promised that he would look after Aunt Pat to which she replied that “whatever happens in the future is a mystery.”

Jackie and Willie parted professionally in 2008, and the pair had a brief fall-out where Willie claimed that “fame got to Jackie’s head.”

“He didn’t need my help anymore and my words fell on deaf ears,” the late film producer said.

However, their feud ended shortly after as Willie was seen at the actor’s 60th birthday party in 2014. Jackie’s son, Jaycee Chan, was also present at the funeral to send him off for the last time.
