Taiwanese actress Janine Chang is one of the most highly qualified actresses around: she has a degree in law and holds a master’s degree in Industrial Economics. But she’s not just book smart – Janine has proved to be quite savvy when it comes to deflecting baseless and untrue rumours about her love life.

In June last year, Janine was photographed buying fruits with director Zero Lin at the supermarket. Zero, was said to be the husband of late TV producer Wendy Kuan, the only daughter of Taiwanese politician John Kuan. Rumours of Janine dating Zero surfaced after the photos were published and the actress claimed that they are “only friends” then.

A few days ago, Janine was reported to have caught her alleged boyfriend Zero cheating on her with a person he had a sexual relationship with. According to Taiwan media, she discovered he was flirting with someone over text messages but Zero had denied the presence of a ‘third party’ and claimed that they were just ‘friends with benefits’.

Responding to the reports at a media event a few days ago, the beauty with brains lauded netizens for their imaginative minds. “This is remarkable, netizens have helped change the male leads in my life three times. Haven’t everyone helped enough and paired me with other guys over the past few years?”

“I feel very sorry to implicate my friends and for getting them on the news,” she added, saying, “Likewise, the same goes for previous rumours written about my friends, it’s unfortunate that we’re friends. I need to beg and ask them for their forgiveness again.”

To further prove her point after the interview, Janine posted a picture of her masquerading as Zhou Xun’s character in Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace – complete with bottle corks as her nail guards yesterday.“What’s fake is fake,” she wrote, and added hashtags to explain that she did the picture on the pretext of joining netizens in cosplaying as the character.Janine’s manager has also refuted these rumours and said: “There is no evidence, this is the result of combining different baseless reports, and it’s absolutely preposterous.”The 36-year-old has only publicly admitted to her

former relationship with IT CEO Kai Huang, although they’ve since parted ways in 2016. At the book launch of her mother’s latest literary work, Janine clarified that she’s currently still single.
