Taiwanese singer Jay Chou married Taiwanese model-actress Hannah Quinlivan in January 2015, and have two children together, 2-year-old Hathaway and 7-month-old Romeo.

Yesterday (Jan 30), rumours that Romeo was conceived via In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) surfaced. IVF is a medical procedure where the egg is fertilised by the sperm in a test tube, or elsewhere outside the body.

The rumour claimed that the couple chose to undergo IVF treatment at a renowned hospital, to prevent chances that their child will be born with Ankylosing Spondylitis (a type of arthritis that affects the spine, and includes pain and stiffness from the neck down to the lower back), a hereditary condition that Jay suffers from.

However, Jay’s representative company JVR Music and Hannah’s manager have since stepped up to deny the rumours, clarifying that although the method was considered, Romeo was birthed by natural means.

The hospital that Hannah was rumoured to have sought treatment at also denied to comment on the issue, saying that they will not infringe on the patient’s privacy by releasing confidential information.

The 24-year-old actress was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome after giving birth to Hathaway, and successfully overcame the obstacles to birth Romeo in June last year (June 21). Hannah also previously shared her personal wish to have three kids before she turned 25.
