Jeannie Hsieh reveals the reason why she wear face masks

Taiwanese singer Jeannie Hsieh, who is always confident on-stage, has a habit of wearing face masks to cover up whenever she’s not performing.

Yesterday, the 43-year-old uploaded a series of pictures of herself wearing the said masks on Instagram and revealed the reasons why she does so all the time.

“Wearing a face mask out helps one to stay fair, and it’s fashionable to boot. However, in summer, you must take care when choosing the material of the mask, to allow your skin to breathe,” she wrote.

She then went to admit that she does wear her face mask out no matter where she is, be it on an airplane, at the movie theatre or even in a meeting.

Jeannie shared a barrage of reasons for her decision, from avoiding the harmful PM2.5 pollutants in the air, to trying to avoid crowds around her. However, her final reason is probably the one that has the most impact on her decision to do so.

“(Wearing a mask) also helps to cover up the scar from my accident,” she wrote. The singer shared that she wants to avoid having to cake on layer upon layer of makeup every time she heads out just to cover the scar, which is why she chooses to wear face masks.

She added that her mum feels bad for her as well, as it seems as though she’s unable to accept the scar on her face. However, Jeannie concluded her post on a positive note, writing, “Being able to run and jump about is happiness (in itself).”

She also put her mother’s fears at rest writing, “Mum, don’t worry! I will be courageous, and give more people strength (through my actions). I don’t have the power to be weak. Jiejie will definitely show how trendy wearing a face mask is!”

It was previously reported that Jeannie got into a car accident at the age of 17, but the singer has not elaborated more on the nature of the incident. It is believed that the scar is a result of that accident.
