Taiwanese singer Kenji Wu, 36, and casino tycoon Stanley Ho’s daughter Laurinda Ho, 24, have announced their separation, with Laurinda posting an emotional message on Instagram yesterday.
“I promised myself this would be the last time I cried for you,” she wrote alongside a black-and-white snap of a pair of cutesy slippers. “I won’t bear grudges, and I will keep moving forward and not be fixated on the truths and lies.”
“What’s most important is that I will forever remember that last impression you left me when we parted, because it will remind me not to be so foolish again. Maybe one day I will thank you for teaching me how I should love myself more.”
Later in the day, Kenji confirmed through his manager that he had broken up with Laurinda: “We are indeed no longer together, and perhaps the best response is to say nothing more. Thank you for the wonderful memories over the years, and Laurinda is truly a good girl.”
Laurinda reportedly initiated the breakup two months ago. Though the separation was rumoured to be due to a third party and that Kenji had cheated on Laurinda, a close friend of Kenji’s denied this.
There have been hints of their four-year relationship going south since this April, when Kenji mentioned he discussed the topic of breaking up with Laurinda. In May, Laurinda chose to stay in Hong Kong to celebrate her birthday, and Kenji didn’t fly over to celebrate the occasion with her. And in September, Laurinda posted on her Instagram account that she was “content with loneliness.”
