Our baby’s gender is a secret: George Young, Janet Hsieh

On April Fools’ Day, celebrity couple Janet Hsieh and George Young shocked everyone with the announcement that Janet is expecting their first child.

After confirming that the announcement was not a joke, congratulations poured in for the couple. Yesterday, the lovebirds made their first appearance together since the big announcement for a promotional event.

Janet, who’s currently four months pregnant, looked as svelte as ever, though the 37-year-old revealed that she had put on weight, sharing that her “cup size has increased by two”. When she met with the reporters at the event, Janet laughingly asked them, “Are you here for me, or for the baby that is inside my belly?”

The expectant mother also revealed that her appetite had increased, and that she is now able to eat one and a half pizzas at one go. She let on that she’s unable to suppress her hunger nowadays, and that she has to eat immediately if she’s hungry, sharing that she once asked George for watermelon in the middle of the night. Janet also expressed disappointment at being unable to eat raw fish.

The couple let on that Janet “instinctively knew” that she was pregnant when her period was late. However, the couple delayed testing for the pregnancy, as they “knew that their lives would change after that”.

As the event drew to an end, the couple shared that they did not intend to find out their baby’s gender beforehand, as they want to be surprised when Janet gives birth.

Janet shared that she hopes for a baby girl but that her wish might not come true. Explaining that she rarely experiences morning sickness, she added that according to old wives’ tales, a lack of morning sickness indicates that you are expecting a boy.

Additionally, as George has two brothers with severe autism, the couple shared that they were initially worried that their baby will be affected as well. However, the doctor assured them that the chances that their child will be born with autism was only one to two per cent.

George and Janet tied the knot in 2015, with an intimate wedding ceremony in Antarctica, slightly over a year after going public with their relationship.
