Patrick Tse praises ex daughter-in-law: “Cecilia Cheung is really good!”
Father of Nicholas Tse discusses about his son’s divorce from Cecilia Cheung in a recent interview
Faye Wong and Nicholas Tse’s reunion became talk of the town when the ex-couple reconciled in 2014, three years after Nicholas’ high-profile divorce from Cecilia Cheung in 2011. The Hong Kong singer-actor was previously married to Cecilia for five years and have two sons, Lucas and Quintus Tse together.
Apart from the media attention focused on Faye and Nicholas’ reunion (neither have addressed it publicly), it was also often reported that the latter’s dad, Patrick Tse, is resistant towards the idea of his son getting married for the second time.
In a recent interview, when asked about his family, Patrick revealed that he visits his grandsons as their grandfather, but the two boys “are too young” and “have no idea who their grandfather is.”
“They don’t chat with me too, so I can only look at the two of them playing by themselves,” he added.
The 80-year-old also shared that Cecilia “would never stop me from visiting my two grandsons” and could not stop praising his former daughter-in-law. “Cecilia is really very good, she treats her family well and is willing to bring the boys to meet their grandfather and dad,” he said.
When the topic veered towards Nicholas’ divorce from Cecilia, Patrick got emotional and said, in a resigned voice, “I feel like crying every time this is mentioned. In my heart I’d wonder why my son had to get a divorce, just like I did.”
Patrick also declined to further discuss about the topic as he was afraid of getting too emotional during the interview.
