Ruby Lin reveals the reason behind her daughter’s pet name

tying the knot in 2016 months after they announced they were together in the same year, surprising the public with their decision to take their relationship to the next level in such a short period of time.

Soon after, they gave birth to their 1-year-old daughter Huo Xiao Ru, commonly known by her pet names ‘Little Angel’ and ‘Little Dolphin’, in January the following year.

Ruby finally revealed the origins of her daughter’s nicknames in a recent interview. The actress shared that ‘Little Dolphin’ was derived from a nickname Ruby’s grandfather gave her when she was younger.

As a child, Ruby was unable to sit upright on her own and had to be fed while lying on the sofa, giving rise to the adorable nickname ‘Dolphin’. As her fans knew and remembered the story, they decided to call her daughter ‘Little Dolphin’.

Ruby also shared that her work motivations have changed since giving birth, and she now wishes to take on projects that are meaningful to her so she could show them to her daughter in the future.

As Wallace is known to be very overprotective of ‘Little Dolphin’, even getting into a commotion once with a passer-by who tried to take a picture of her, Ruby affirmed the fact and revealed that her husband’s daughter-loving ways are very different from the usual composed demeanour he was known for.

“If she doesn’t get up by the time she is supposed to, he would even ask me why!” the actress shared, adding that Wallace gets “bored” whenever he does not get to spend time with the 1-year-old.
