Shu Qi calls out rumour mongers

Shu Qi tied the knot with Stephen Fung last September after dating for four years. Following which, they have been spotted spending time together on multiple occasions, which has painted a picture of marital bliss for the couple.

However, an Instagram update on February 12 led some to believe that there is trouble in paradise. Her vague post read, “It’s not that I don’t want to argue with you, it’s because of respect. I respect the affection that we’ve had for years and I treasure all that we’ve gone through. I’ve compromised step by step because of this (…) only if mutual respect, compromise and acceptance will you be able to maintain the beautiful relationship you had from the start... But compromising has its limits!”

As she did not specify who the post was directed to, some netizens started to speculate that she got into an argument with her husband, with some comments asking her to talk things out with him instead of ranting online.

In response, she posted another Instagram update today with the short caption, “Silly”. In the picture attached, she wrote, “Don’t take what others say to heart; just because they have mouths, it doesn’t mean that they have brains too.”

While not directly addressing the speculation, her post has been seen as an indirect way of calling out the rumour mongers who have claimed that there are problems in her marriage. Many of her fans have rallied behind her, leaving messages of encouragement and support.
