Shu Qi sparks pregnancy rumours with baggy outfit

All eyes are on Shu Qi and her growing (or not) tummy, after the Taiwanese actress and Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung dropped a bomb and announced their sudden marriage last month. The pair tied the knot in Prague, where Stephen was filming movie The Adventurers, starring Shu Qi.

Since the official announcement of their marriage, there have been rumours of Shu Qi expecting and fans have taken their curiousity to her Weibo page, scruntinising every post and comment of hers.

This includes the photo she posted of her backpack with a lucky charm often brought around by expecting ladies, although the couple have specifically said in their announcement, “P.S. There’s no baby yet”. Shu Qi’s recent lament on her Weibo about not being able to eat beef, poultry and seafood was also factored in to support the fact that she is pregnant.

To make matters worse, the 40-year-old was photographed in a loose sweater and jeans before an event, leading to media outlets drawing the conclusion that she was attempting to cover up her baby bump. She also showed up at a high-end beauty product’s publicity event in Shanghai yesterday in a loose jumpsuit, instead of her usual body-hugging dresses and was required the crew’s assistance to walk about, further fueling the rumours about her pregnancy.

Responding to reports about her supposed pregnancy, Shu Qi said that she was detoxing and keeping her health in check, but shied away from pregnancy-related questions.

The couple have not responded to the rumours as of press time, but fans keep their hopes high as they believe that the good news will be announced after the first trimester is over.
