Sonia Sui breaks out in hives

Taiwanese actress Sonia Sui suffered a case of acute urticaria (hives) last weekend and had to be rushed to the emergency room every night for treatment in order to keep it under control.

Sonia revealed on Facebook yesterday that she had “lost a lot of weight” since the outbreak as she had been “unable to sleep nor eat.” Unfortunately, the treatment stopped having any effect on her body after three days, causing the hives to flare up again, worsening her condition.

This caused Sonia to cancel her appearance at an event which she was supposed to make with her co-star James Wen from the television film The Fierce Wife. This was the first time the actress had to sit out of a work event due to her health and she could not stop expressing her apologies to the public and the companies involved.

Sonia also had to spend her 37th birthday on Oct 22 at the hospital, but added that she is now slowly making a recovery.

This incident taught Sonia to appreciate life more and not to take such simple things like good health for granted. She then added that she would take better care of herself and not over-work in the future. The actress also expressed her gratefulness for her family being well and able to be by her side to support her during such times.

Sonia registered her marriage with her husband, Tony Chia in 2015, and welcomed her son Max in the same year and later her daughter Lucy in February 2017.
