Sonia Sui stands up for Cyndi Wang
Taiwanese actress made the declaration when she was asked about the leaked photo of Cyndi Wang in her underwear
A leaked photo of Cyndi Wang in her underwear has recently resurfaced, causing an uproar in Taiwan. It was confirmed that it was the singer’s ex-boyfriend, Yao Yuanhao, who had captured the photo, but the actor has insisted that the snap was not circulated by him.
Following this piece of news, Sonia Sui was also probed by the media about her thoughts on the situation. She and Yao Yuanhao dated for eight years before breaking up in 2012 and Cyndi was rumoured to be the third party in their relationship.
Sonia, who is now happily married to businessman Tony Chia and has two children with him, shared, “In this sort of matters, you should be protecting the female! The media shouldn’t keep reporting about it and Cyndi should be protected!”
When asked if Yuanhao had the habit of taking photos of her while they were together, Sonia refused to comment on it and instead said that she has been busy with her own matters recently and was only informed about the photo leak by her manager, adding that there is nothing more on the matter that she wishes to discuss.
With the media storm still brewing over the photo’s reemergence and circulation, Cyndi’s company has stepped forward to express that they will be pursuing legal action against those who spread the photo, adding that it is illegal to take photos of others without their permission.
In response, Yao Yuanhao declared through his company’s representatives, “It’s only natural that couples will have intimate moments between them when the feeling is right. Cyndi has seen these photos before, so it definitely wasn’t a case where he sneakily took photos of her without her knowledge.”
A close friend to Cyndi has also stepped forward with her side of the story, sharing that the photos were taken in 2015, and that she was under the impression that Yuanhao had deleted the photos soon after they were taken. She expressed, “You can’t just say that you didn’t (circulate) the photos and expect everyone to be alright with that. You need to show proof! We’re going around in circles right now.”
The friend added that Yuanhao has yet to personally contact Cyndi in the two or so days since the photo was uploaded online, adding that Cyndi was very disappointed by his lack of sincerity.
Cyndi and Yuanhao dated for about four years and broke up at least twice during that period. They called it quits in February this year and have reportedly moved on since then.
