Taiwanese singer confirms that he and Lin Chi-ling dated

Last January, Lin Chi-ling was reported to have moved on from ex-boyfriend Jerry Yan with a Taiwanese singer, Yang Ren Pei (also known as Chris). Soon after the reports emerged, Ren Pei was rumoured to be a playboy with no fixed residence, choosing instead to live in hotels most of the time.

At the time, Chi-ling’s agency called the pair “newly acquainted friends” and denied all the dating rumours. Neither party formally addressed the issue in person.

Although it’s been over a year since the reports first emerged, the curiosity surrounding the authenticity of the claims has not died down, with Taiwan journalists asking Ren Pei about it when he attended a charity event recently.

The singer shared that he and Chi-ling got to know one another through mutual friends and exchanged contact details before dating for a short period. However, they later drifted apart due to their respective busy schedules.

He also addressed rumours that he had cheated on Chi-ling with his air stewardess then-girlfriend, something he refuted with the explanation that he had already broken up with her before dating Chi-ling. When contacted for a response, Chi-ling’s manager declined to comment on the matter.

On the possibility of him and Chi-ling reuniting in the future, Ren Pei would only say that he will “leave it up to fate. If there’s an opportunity, it will show itself (in the future).” He added that his ideal type is an Asian girl, but has no specific requirements with regards to age and height.

Ren Pei’s official profile states that he stands at a height of 188cm, and reports state that he is currently living in New York, where he is working in the advertising industry.
