Vicki Zhao, Chen Kun reaffirm friendship

A-listers Vicki Zhao and Chen Kun have been friends with each other since their school days. The two of them were classmates at the Beijing Film Academy together with Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming, and were often referred to as ‘The Three Musketeers’.

However, while collaborating together for the 2011 film, Painted Skin: The Resurrection, Vicki was rumoured to have had a disagreement with fellow Chinese actress, Zhou Xun. Chen Kun, who was involved in Painted Skin: The Resurrection as well, was caught in the middle, as he was on good terms with both actresses. Eventually, he reportedly sided with Zhou Xun.

Things came to a head in 2013, when the actor remained surprisingly silent when Vicki’s film, So Young, which marked the actress’s directorial debut, was released. While Vicki’s friends posted messages of congratulations on their social media accounts, Chen Kun chose to post cryptic messages about manipulation on his Weibo.

Yesterday, however, the actress posted a picture together with Chen Kun on her Weibo account, writing, “The happiest thing is growing up together with you! From university till now, you’ve always been just like a child, never changing. Love.”

Chen Kun then shared Vicki’s post, adding, “[Our] unrivalled camaraderie”, to which she replied, “True love is limitless”. This marks the first public interaction between the duo since 2012, serving as a reaffirmation of their longstanding friendship.
