Wang Leehom releases two new songs from his latest album

With a slightly different concept

Wang Leehom releases two new songs from his latest album

Taiwanese-American singer Wang Leehom held a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday (Sept 19) following the release of two new songs, ‘A.I. Love’ and ‘World Without Tears’, both from his upcoming album A.I Love.

The singer kept up with the latest trend of technology and placed a machine at the entrance of the press conference venue that allowed the detection of facial features. One could only enter upon passing the facial recognition test after which, they were directed to their assigned positions.

This adoption of the latest technological trends was also evident in the music video of his title track, ‘A.I. Love’, which was produced by his wife Lee Jinglei. The video features the famous Hanson Robotics robot Sophia – who, as the company’s latest and most advanced robot, was very expensive – as the female lead. Leehom even had to film intimate scenes with her but said that she had facial expressions and was very smart, knowing when and when not to blink during the filming.

Being actively involved with technology, the singer also has a robot helper in both his house and company to help look after his children and assist during meetings respectively. He expressed that sometimes at the studio, he would use his phone to control them. He also added that their faces were like video screens and they were able to interact with his children.

Although technology has greatly improved human lives, Leehom still has some reservations and believes that they could not replace humans or their emotions entirely. This is the main theme in his song as well, where his chorus questions the ethics regarding the line drawn between humans and machines.

“Only a human being is capable of love and that is difficult to replicate. You can cheat a person of their money or time but it is unforgivable to play with their emotions,” said the singer.

He also revealed that one of the tracks on the album was written specially for his children with his eldest daughter , 3-year-old Jiali, harmonising in an upcoming song. The proud father praised her for having a nice voice and being very talented. He further revealed that she is currently learning how to play the piano.

His latest album A.I. Love is split into four mini albums. A.I. Love Episode 1 features the two recently released songs and it is believed that each mini album will have at least two brand new songs. The full-length album of A.I. Love will only be available for sale after the four mini albums are released.

Leehom’s next tour will commence in March 2018.
