Yang Mi secretly travels to Hong Kong to spend time with daughter

Chinese actress Yang Mi's personal life has been in the spotlight once again, especially after she announced her split from fellow actor Hawick Lau.

The 32-year-old is often the target of tabloids, who claim that the actress has neglected her daughter, a 4-year-old only known to the media by her nickname ‘Little Glutinous Rice’. However, Yang Mi has often emphasised in interviews that she splits her time equally between her career and her daughter. She has also shared that she returns to Hong Kong whenever she can to visit her daughter. 'Little Glutinous Rice' is believed to be living with Hawick’s parents there.

Last Friday (March 1), Yang Mi was sighted at the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, and was believed to be on her way to Hong Kong.

The actress’s latest movie wrapped filming a few days prior, on February 26. However, this was only made public two days later. Many suspected that the delay in the announcement was to give Yang Mi a head start in heading to Hong Kong.

However, a number of fans who knew of the actress’s schedule were present at the airport in Hong Kong to welcome her. Yang Mi, who was dressed simply, was welcomed by her friends as well, who accompanied her out of the airport.

In other related news, fans have also speculated that Yang Mi and Hawick had timed their divorce announcement to coincide with their daughter's winter vacation, to avoid a media scrum around their daughter on her way to school.

Yang Mi tied the knot with Hawick in 2014, and welcomed their only child in the same year. On December 22 last year, the couple announced that they had split amicably.
