Ady An’s beach wedding in Hawaii is as grand and opulent as one imagines it to be. After her French designer 10.57 carat sparkler was revealed yesterday, the bride and groom’s wedding favours to their guests made headlines for its hefty price tag.

Each giftset is worth an estimated NT$60,000 (approximately S$2,751) and includes a sunshield hat, wooden umbrella and a customised Meitu smartphone that comes in various colours. According to Taiwan media reports, the customised phone sets are valued at 9,999 RMB (approximately $2,031) each.

A lot of thought went into the packaging of the smartphone’s gift box too.

In a video, the newly-married Mrs Chen revealed that the royal blue box packaging was to compliment her wedding’s Grecian theme while the logo of her and husband Chen Ronglian’s initials are designed with Hawaii’s iconic plumeria flowers in mind. Last but not least, Ady shared that the digits ‘20170605’ are representative of the most important day in her life – her wedding date.

According to Ady, her gift of these phones is to remind her wedding guests to “capture what’s beautiful” and “preserve happy moments.”

The colours of the mobile phones gifted bear different meanings as well, said Ady, who shared that her closest bosom pals each received a red handset “because the version for girlfriends should be a little bit more special,” while the rest of the guests received a white handset. “It is equally beautiful and unique,” she said.

Ady married Ronglian, the CEO of Macau-based Tak Chun Group on Monday (June 6). The couple flew in 200 of their closest friends and family members for the big day.
