Chris Wang reveals son’s Chinese name

Chris Wang and wife welcomed a son in July this year and nicknamed him YOLO as it was part of the name of Chris’s self-established company. The family celebrated his first month since birth yesterday and the proud father shared pictures from the event as well as revealed his son’s Chinese name.

The posts by the 35- year-old showcased gifts personally made by him: a handmade card with YOLO’s picture and a stamp of his birth day. On behalf of his son, he wrote: “Hi everybody, I am Kai Kai and my English name is YOLO. My daddy says it stands for ‘You Only Live Once’ but I think he just wanted me to have a happy life. I hope everyone can feel happy when they think of me!”

The other side of the card had a drawing of the family, illustrating all four of them on board a ship, capturing Chris’ oldest child, 2-year-old Lei Lei pointing out to the sea and a playful YOLO climbing out of the ship with Chris holding him back. The drawing is seen as a representation of Chris’ desire to create fun memories together with his family. He revealed the meaning through his manager that life is short and only happens once so you should follow what your heart desires.

Other gifts to family and friends included pots of small dragon fruit plants. The dragon fruit represents passion and enthusiasm that he hopes his son would have, and is a symbolism of new life – to celebrate the birth of his newborn son.

Chris’s wife Li Yi Xian disclosed that the name Kai Kai was picked by a fortune teller from a bunch of other names. The name itself has no special meaning but the parents just hope that he is able to grow up and live well.

Chris had previously taken a break from showbiz to embark for a family world tour and is currently taking care of YOLO.
