(Taipei November 27, 2016) "It’s just a competition," said Midi Z when "The Road to Mandalay" missed the Golden Horse Awards’ Best Director and Best Leading Actor by a little, although he felt apologetic for Kai Ko and Patty Wu.

"I failed them because I deleted all the intense scenes. I feel sorry for Kai and and Patty. Actors have to wait passively for good projects, but a director can start a new project soon."

Kai smiled at the celebration party and said, "I’m very happy. When I saw directors Hou Hsiao-hsien and Peter Chan, they both encouraged me and told me that my efforts had been recognised." He added optimistically, "Perhaps I’ll have another chance next year."

Patty said with an open mind, "I feel a little lost but it means I have room for improvement." Sylvia Chang also showed up as a surprise at the party to cheer Midi up.
