STAR POWER: The most dazzling second-gen celeb children

You know what they say – some things are all in the family.

Celebrities have their entire lives, including their personal affairs, thrust into the limelight – and it only gets more intense the more famous they get. While some parents are fiercely protective of keeping their children away from the public eye, others have allowed their children to grow up in the limelight as well and some of these children have managed to find their very own sparkle.

From our little red dot’s ‘Apple Girl’ Eleanor Lee, offspring of veteran TV personality Quan Yi Fong to the golden family that is the Beckhams, we round up a list of the most dazzling second generation celeb children who might very well outshine their famous parents one day.

Quan Yi Fong’s baby girl is not known on our little red dot – her popularity has exploded in the mainland, where she starred in an Apple China commercial and has even earned the nickname of ‘Apple Girl’.

While a previous interview with her protective mom previously shared in an interview with Toggle that she will prioritise her 16-year-old’s studies over a possible entertainment career, that hasn’t stopped the doe-eyed girl from amassing a huge following on her personal social media accounts.

Her godfather, famed hairstylist Addy Lee, also shared that his phone has been ringing off the hook since Eleanor’s appearance on the ad but has rejected all casting offers – including a stint on Voice of China.

More recently, she landed a role in a Chinese period drama, touted to be the most expensive Chinese fantasy production ever at RMB 300 million (S$67 million). Her versatility is said to include singing, dancing, painting and acting, something we foresee will guarantee a shining path down the road to fame for this budding star.

The Beckham clan has been growing steadily since Becks and Posh tied the knot in 1999. Their brood, which consisted of all sons, finally saw the addition of their little princess, Harper, in 2011.

Their eldest son, Brooklyn, has graced the cover of numerous magazines, including Man About Town and Miss Vogue at the ripe old age of 16. Victoria has also been vocal about her support for her son’s fledgling career and has expressed her pride on her personal social media accounts.

David also openly displays affection for his children and often engages in hilarious bantering with Brooklyn on Instagram, and also posts pictures of their travels together as a family.

Reports have claimed that he has now signed on with a modeling agency and is set to follow his A-list parents’ footsteps into the glitzy world of entertainment. Little Harper has also amassed her very own fans, with paparazzi shots of her with her family making the front page from time to time.

While second son Romeo and youngest son Cruz have yet to reach their elder brother’s heights of popularity, we’d say all they need is a couple of years for them to mature into heartthrobs that will melt hearts all over the world without them even trying.

Liu Nuoyi

Celeb parent: Liu Ye
Mini me: Liu Nuoyi

Chinese actor Liu Ye’s son, Nuoyi, shot to fame after starring on the Chinese edition of Dad, Where Are We Going? along with his younger sister, Nina.

Liu Ye is married to French photojournalist Anais Martane, and their children have inherited both their parents’ looks to become two of China’s most well-loved mixed blood offspring.

Nuoyi has gained a large number of “overage fans” after his appearance on the show and even has fan clubs dedicated solely to him – all at the age of 5.

At recent interviews, the proud daddy admitted that the show helped him to get closer to Nuoyi as they could spend time together even while he was at work. Adding that the family was bombarded with photo requests everywhere they went after the show’s run, he disclosed that his wife felt concerned about the loss of privacy for the family.

Following Nuoyi’s brush with fame, Liu Ye shared that he has – and will continue to – reject all casting offers made towards his son and that he hopes to keep his son away from the limelight as much as possible.

Celeb parents: Christopher Downs, Phoebe Huang
Mini me: Kyana Poppy Downs

Poppy is also a mixed-race darling that has emerged from Dad, Where Are We Going?, charming the hearts of Chinese viewers and beyond.

Her parents, television presenter Christopher Downs and actress Phoebe Huang, were fiercely protective of Poppy prior to her appearance on the show, which caused many to focus even more on the rare chance to watch the pint-sized girl in action.

While her parents have reportedly created a princess room at home for her to live her life like a little princess, she is reported to not have any problems with princess-like behaviour due to strict parenting.

Phoebe is said to have brought little Poppy for an interview once, but the six-year-old was too preoccupied with speaking to her father that she paid no heed to the members of the media gathered. Phoebe immediately lectured her daughter for this, and while her tone was not harsh, the little girl immediately apologised to everyone present and put her 100% into the session.

Chantalle Ng

Celeb parents: Lin Mei Jiao, Huang Yiliang
Mini me: Chantalle Ng

It seems like just yesterday when Chantalle Ng made her drama debut with a cameo in 96°C Café. Fast forward two years later and she has plenty more to add to her belt, including a role in recently-concluded Sealed With A Kiss and being crowned Ms SMU 2015.

The Singapore Management University (SMU) undergrad presented the Young Talent Award alongside Tay Ying (Zheng Ge Ping and Hong Hui Fang’s daughter) and Chen Yixi (Edmund Chen and Xiang Yun’s son) at last year’s Star Awards, emphasising the trio’s place in our entertainment industry.

Her proud mom has shared in previous interviews that she is not opposed to Chantalle’s foray into the entertainment industry, but that her education will have to come first before she will be allowed to make the decision to pursue a career in showbiz.
