Wakin Chau wants to “kill” his daughter’s boyfriend
Someone’s an overprotective dad.
Wakin Chau recently held a press conference to promote the release of his first album in six years, The Younger Me. His 29-year-old son Andrew, who was involved in the pre-release photo shoot, was there to support him as well.
After graduating from university overseas, Andrew returned to Taiwan to pursue an acting career, but his younger sister, 24-year-old Anya, is still looking for a job and living abroad with her boyfriend.
When asked if he has seen his daughter’s boyfriend, Wakin said that his wife, American Constance Woods, and Andrew both have, but he honestly does not want to ever meet him. “I will kill whoever dares to go near my daughter,” he quipped, causing the crowd of reporters to burst into laughter.
On a more serious note, the 58-year-old singer admitted that he had thought of retiring, especially since he was unable to write any songs over the past few years. In addition, the long hours of filming and promotional activities had taken a toll on his body and health.
However, Wakin then reassured everyone that he has no intention of calling it quits anytime soon. “Taiwanese music is still a leader in the industry, so I thought, what else can my generation of musicians do?” he said. “I hope to continue making music with a more mature and experienced energy.”
