Rumours are rife that Andy Lau and his wife, Carol Chu, are currently expecting a second child together, four years after they had their daughter, Hanna.

At the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards yesterday, Andy commented on these rumours for the first time at the red carpet event and neither confirmed or denied the reports.

“Ever since my first child was born, the paparazzi have been taking pictures,” he said, referring to the pictures taken of his wife with a baby bump earlier.

Andy went on to explain that his usual practice is to ignore such pictures. “If it’s true, I will announce it on my official website. We’ve gone through so much in the past [in order to have Hanna], will I still lie to everyone [regarding rumours of a second child]?”

The Best Actor nominee (he was nominated for Lost and Love) also showcased his fatherly side through his interactions with the child actresses from the movie Little Big Master at the awards ceremony.

The 54-year-old, who was up on stage to present an award together with the child actresses, was clearly at ease with them, occasionally bending down to converse with the girls. Andy also made the effort to memorise not only their names in the movie, but their real names as well, as he introduced them one by one to the audience.
