Taiwanese actor Chang Chen took the public by surprise when he made a sudden announcement of becoming a father this morning.
The 39-year-old subtly hinted on becoming a first-time father with his simple message ‘A new member is here’ attached to a photo on his Weibo, in which a pair of baby footprints stamped on a piece of paper with blue ink was visibly seen.
Blessings poured in online for Chang Chen and his family, with one netizen commenting, “May your little darling be healthy always and grow up to be intelligent.”
Sharp-eyed netizens also noticed that the actor’s former rumoured girlfriend, Taiwanese actress Shu Qi, had shared his post on her own Weibo account and remarked: “What big feet (your baby has)!”
The 38-year-old actress seemed to have proven that she has gotten over their relationship with her post, as she was said to have drowned her sorrows in alcohol and tears on his wedding night to his four-year girlfriend-cum-former-manager in late 2013.
It was also previously speculated that Shu Qi had vouched to marry Chang Chen if she is still single at the age of 35. Chang Chen, on the other hand, also admitted to having ‘strong feelings for her’ after they co-starred in a movie.
Yet, their liking for each other did not mature into a relationship as the actor’s father reportedly did not approve of them.
