Hong Kong actress Ella Koon and her doctor boyfriend of six years Juan-Domingo Maurellet tied the knot in a “simple but grand” wedding on Monday (Feb 2).
Ella, who announced her engagement last November, shared the good news via her record company Warner Music yesterday. “I’m married! I know many reporters have been running about because of my wedding, but to respect the wishes of both our parents, we had kept it a low-key affair. We seek your understanding,” she said.
Sources also revealed that Ella’s wedding gown costs nearly HK$1 million (approximately S$173,000) and that her jewellery magnate father gifted her dowry valued over HK$10 million (S$1.7 million).
Glowing with bliss, the 35-year-old actress admitted that though it was stressful preparing for the wedding, it was a “happy kind of stress”. At the same time, she is thankful for her French-Chinese husband’s love and care all this time.
Pledging to remain active in the industry, Ella hopes to repay her fans’ support by producing good music in the near future.
According to a representative from her company, the newlyweds are currently overseas for their honeymoon. “But I don’t know if they flew immediately after or on the next day [of their wedding]. She didn’t reveal their destination,” he added.
Additionally, the representative let on that Ella previously applied for one month of leave as her comeback is tentatively set in early March.
