It’s been almost a year since Taiwanese actor Kai Ko and Hong Kong actor-singer Jaycee Chan made headlines for all the wrong reasons: the pair was busted in Jaycee’s Beijing home for abusing weed and have since been released.

Although the two are now back to their normal lives, the repercussions from the scandal continue to linger, with their behaviour being under constant media scrutiny and their once busy work schedules filled with other events instead.

While Kai has made his way back into the limelight by attending numerous charity events and giving speeches, Jaycee is reported to have developed a fear of facing others. The 32-year-old was released this February and is said to have felt immense guilt for his actions and has become someone who mostly keeps to himself. His new personality has been described as one who is afraid of facing large crowds and is evasive even in front of people he is familiar with.

Reports have shared that his changed behaviour worried his superstar father, Jackie Chan, who has constantly found time despite his packed schedule to fly back to Taiwan to see his son. The concerned father is said to want to spend more time with him in the fear that his only son will fall into depression.

Jaycee, who currently lives with his mother after being released from jail, is said to have shown gradual improvement in his condition and is currently preparing to release a Mandarin album. In order not to create unnecessary stress for the star, the label has yet to set a release date for his upcoming work.

On his condition, his manager shared, “He’s okay now after getting used to (things) and is living a normal life; he was just under some stress previously.”
