It was a car wash gone wrong for TV host Matilda Tao and her two kids last weekend. The TV host, who wanted to let her daughter Dou Dou and son Xiao Long participate in doing some chores by washing their family car together, was accused by netizens for wasting water.
Responding to a Facebook post shared by the 45-year-old, netizens linked it to the country’s existing drought problem which has yet to be resolved by Taiwan’s Water Resources Agency.
One even said, “While Taiwan is experiencing a lack of water resources, you are blocking the road to wash your car. This is setting a terrible example.”
Matilda immediately clarified that they did not occupy the whole road, but did not respond to comments about the water wastage. She retorted, “It was the end of the lane and there were no cars!”
Her fans lashed out at netizens, calling them hypocrites: “In this dry season, you are still taking daily showers, flushing your toilets and washing dishes. Isn’t that strange?”
