Korean actress Han Ye Seul left producers of Spy Myung Wol in a tight spot back in 2011 when she boycotted filming for the show due to what she declared were poor working conditions.
She returned to Korea less than 48 hours later, apologising for causing trouble but maintaining that she did the right thing in order for the Korean entertainment industry to reflect on its practices.
The 33-year-old will headline upcoming drama Birth of a Beauty, which held its press conference on October 30. The director, Lee Chang Min, responded quickly when asked about how he would deal with her past record. He quipped, “I’m here with Han Ye Seul and Joo Sang Wook’s passports. They promised me that they won’t run away.”
Birth of a Beauty is a romantic comedy of Sara (Han Ye Seul) who loses everything after her husband betrays her and undergoes plastic surgery from top-to-toe to become beautiful.
SHINee’s Jonghyun has recorded a mid-tempo track that will serve as one of the drama’s theme songs.
Birth of a Beauty will premiere on SBS on November 1.
