Korean actor-singer Kim Hyun Joong was embroiled in a scandal last year in which his ex-girlfriend accused him of habitual abuse. The case has come to a close this week, with the 28-year-old fined US$5,000 (S$6,700).

The woman, who has not been named, accused the celebrity of abuse during their relationship, and produced alleged hospital documents that backed up her claim. Only one of the four reports of assault was eventually investigated because the remaining three could not be directly linked to Kim Hyun Joong.

Recent reports have suggested that not all of the evidence she provided were real, with some of the pictures reportedly manipulated in her favour. Supposed discrepancies in the medical certificates produced also raised questions of the validity of her claims.

Kim Hyun Joong was eventually fined with the police releasing a statement that he was demonstrating a martial arts move to his then-girlfriend and had no intention of assault.
