Korean remake of Liar Game gears up for release

Manga series Liar Game was first adapted into a Japanese television series which later spawned a second season and two live action films. Korean cable channel tvN will be airing the Korean remake of the hit franchise, headlined by Lee Sang Yoon, Kim So Eun and Shin Sung Rok.

The release of the official poster and teasers gave fans a glimpse of what to expect, with the poster declaring, “There is a way to victory despite the endless betrayals and twists”. The plot revolves around a game show in which contestants vie for the top prize of 10 billion won (S$12 million).

The naïve college student Nam Da Jung (Kim So Eun) will be helped along by genius swindler Cha Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yoon) in a game that is controlled by the game master (Shin Sung Rok).

Lee Sang Yoon was last seen in dramas Angel Eyes (with Goo Hye Sun) and Goddess of Fire (with Moon Geun Young). Kim So Eun played Kim Bum’s love interest in hit drama Boys Over Flowers back in 2009 and Shin Sung Rok played the pivotal villain in last year’s massive hit, My Love From Another Star.

Liar Game will air its pilot episode on October 20, after My Secret Hotel (Jin Yi Han, Yoo In Na) ends its run.
