Fans of various groups under Korean entertainment giant S.M. Entertainment were left outraged after the Superdome, the concert’s organiser, announced that various artistes will be unable to perform at SMTOWN Live World Tour IV IN Taiwan days before the concert.
In a Facebook post yesterday (March 17), Superdome declared that all artistes’ flights to Taiwan will be kept confidential and that they would be using VIP passageways to exit from the airport, asking fans not to make a wasted trip in anticipation of seeing their stars arrive in the country.
Additionally, they named Super Junior’s Sungmin, Girls’ Generation’s Yoona, f(x)’s Sulli and EXO’s Lay and Tao as those who would be unable to make it for the concert due to schedule conflicts, assuring that all overall performances will remain unaffected.
It is understood that Sungmin is currently preparing for his military enlistment on March 31. His last overseas concert was the Super Show 6 in Macau on March 1.
Yoona’s absence is widely believed to be due to filming commitments for Chinese period drama God of War Zhao Yun, whereas Sulli is still on hiatus following an announcement from S.M. that she “became mentally and physically exhausted by the malicious comments and false rumours (about her) and decided to take a break from her celebrity activities”. Sulli has been criticised for putting her love life before her members after being linked to musician Choiza, who is 15 years her senior.
There has been no official statement on why these artistes will be absent.
SMTOWN Live World Tour IV IN Taiwan is slated to take place on March 21.
