SM Entertainment started off the year with a bang by announcing the solo debut of SHINee’s Jonghyun. The 24-year-old is not the first and will definitely not be the last out of the entertainment label’s brood to establish themselves apart from their respective bands.

Super Junior’s Kangin was asked if he has any intention to be next in the group, following Super Junior-M’s Henry and Super Junior’s Kyuhyun. The answer was a resounding no – literally. His declaration of “I don’t” echoed around the press conference location for his upcoming movie Cat Funeral, surprising those in attendance.

Following which, the 29-year-old affirmed, “Neither my agency nor I have any plans for my solo debut in the present or in the future.” Apart from starring in the movie, Kangin also recorded a solo song for the movie’s OST. Acclaimed musician Yiruma is reported to have composed the track, which is described as an emotional piece with a delicate melody.

This is Kangin’s first movie role after he was discharged from his mandatory military service. His last major movie role was in 2008’s Hello, Schoolgirl. He has also participated in two of Super Junior’s latest studio albums, Sexy, Free & Single and MAMACITA since his release. He is currently touring with the group for their Super Show 6 concert tour.

Cat Funeral, which also stars Park Se Young, is based on a web comic of the same name and is slated to be released in South Korea on January 15.
